TIRANA, June 19 – The sister of Nuredin Dumani, the person arrested for dozens of paid assassinations in Albania in recent days, Xhuljana Dumani has turned out to have been provided with a security certificate after working at the NATO relations office in the Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania. Following the news made public on Saturday by local media the Ministry has seen it appropriate to make a public statement released on Sunday.
According to the MFA, Dumani’s sister was part of the list applying for the employment program brought to it by the Ministry of Education. Regarding the criminal record for Dumani’s sister, the MFA said that it turned out to be clean.
Her brother Nuredin Dumani is a repentant defendant whose evidence has caused uproar in Albania because many names of the underworld crime circles are being mentioned and their horrible crimes. Special prosecution of serious crimes, SPAK has issued a warning preventing the media from publishing any of his testimonies. The owners of the media that publish such evidence can be jailed.
Further the Foreign Ministry said: “Mrs. Xh.D, has been selected to carry out a 3-month internship at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as part of the list that have applied for this program brought to the MFA by the Ministry of Education.” The statement pointed out Mrs. Xh.D entered the MFA as part of a program, where the selection is based only on student results and aims to create spaces for the best students in public administration.
Further the ministry said Xh.D has never been employed in the Cabinet of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Olta Xhacka is foreign minister, and her resignation is required by opposition and civil society.
“The personal criminal evidence issued by the relevant authorities turned out to be clean for the employment of Mrs. Xh.D as required by law. In accordance with the law, as for any other employee of the MFA, also for Mrs. Xh.D, it has requested the security certificate from DSIK. This certificate is, after the proof of the penalty, another filter through which every employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs passes,” it is said.
The ministry gives assurances to Albanians but also to the interested media, that at no point did Dumani’s sister have access to classified information, much less NATO classified information.
It is not announced if NATO relevant authorities are informed about this grave incident.
