TIRANA, August 28 – Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has repeated his criticism of the EU regarding integration at the European Alpbach forum in Austria on the topic “Geopolitical Awakening of the EU” held a few days ago.
Rama recalled that during the COVID 19 pandemic, the EU abandoned the 6 countries of the Western Balkans and forced them to look to China and Russia to save the lives of their people. For Rama, Albania was able to provide vaccines during the pandemic thanks to Turkey and President Erdogan.
“We have a pandemic and everyone is looking for vaccines and we are in the middle of Europe and they gather in Brussels, distribute vaccines and don’t give a damn about these 6 countries. Where do we find it then? Then we will turn to China and Russia,” said the Albanian Prime Minister.
At the outbreak of the pandemic Rama told Albanians in daily appearances on local TVs that they were alone and abandoned.
“When it is a matter of life, it is China, Russia and Turkey that comes to your aid. Without the president of Turkey, we would not have had vaccines. How then will Europe maintain its unity?” Mr. Rama said at the European Alpbach forum in Austria on the topic of “The Geopolitical Awakening of the EU”.
