TIRANA, September 9- The Democratic Party (DP) considered the so-called Social Resistance Package that Prime Minister Edi Rama and his two lady ministers announced on Thursday having the support of 71 Socialist Party deputies in the Assembly to be a mockery of the government.
Dorian Teliti, a member of the National Council of the DP, said that the Democratic Party has requested a real and comprehensive anti-crisis package, as well as presented the ways in which this can be done. But the government’s reaction is not only inadequate, but can be described as ridiculous,” he said.
“The government’s alms for pensioners turns out to be only 330 old lek per day. Do the calculations yourself on what a pensioner can buy with 330 old lek of aid given by the government,” he said.
Further Teliti said the 10% increase in economic aid is a joke. “Each family in economic assistance will practically benefit from the generosity of this second package 200 old lek per day.”
The government boasts that it will continue to support oil for farmers, fishermen, etc., but it cannot say how many farmers and fishermen have benefited so far, how much oil has gone to these sectors, how much is the value subsidized by the budget etc., he said. “This package is just an opportunity for Edi Rama to play the role of benefactor, to save his face and to open the discharge valve to an economic and social crisis spread across the country,” said the DP official. /Argumentum.al
