“The state of emergency imposes the direct intervention of the government for the freezing of profit margins as well as the transparency of fuel prices, therefore the National Board of Fuel Administration is immediately established,” said on Friday Prime Minister Edi Rama. He told a meeting of oil suppliers that any speculation about the consequences of the war on fuel prices would be restrained.
“A Normative Act with the immediate force of law to deal with this emergency will determine tomorrow the framework of obligations and limited rights of fuel suppliers for a two-month period to be renewed according to the dynamics of the war,” said Rama.
Addressing the oil suppliers, the Prime Minister stressed that “you belong to that part of the Albanian society that must make sacrifices.”
“This is not the time to win, but to resist. This is the time to keep your share of the burden. We have an obligation to bear the greatest burden. This is a war and everyone has to bear the burden,” he said.
The Prime Minister stressed that “within 24 hours, the government will pass a normative act with the force of law and the government will enter the administration of supply together with suppliers through a National Board of Fuel Supply”.
“Every day you and the government, represented by the Minister of Finance and Economy, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, the Director of Taxes, the Director of Customs and the head of the Competition Authority, will be at the table with 5 representatives from you,” Rama said.
The Prime Minister stressed that “there will be no sign at any gas station, where a price will be displayed that has not been approved by the board… If someone does this he will lose the gas station. I ask for your solidarity and commitment with grace, and the law will do this with its power. We have no other way.” /Argumentum.al
