TIRANA, June 28 – The number of infected persons with Covid-19 increased from 280 cases on Monday to 550 new cases on Tuesday, the highest figure recorded in the last two months, the Health Ministry said in an announcement on Tuesday.

An 81-year-old man from Tirana lost his life because of Covid 19, while at COVID 3 hospital 19 patients are receiving medical treatment.

Some 550 persons have tested positive for Covid – 19 out of 1537 tests performed throughout the territory of Albania. In Tirana alone, the number of cases was 340 citizens, an alarming figure that seems to have increased within a short time. The number of cases varies from 28 in Fier to 2 in different districts of the country.

It seems clear that the highest incidence is in the big cities, and the Capital has the highest concentration of the population. This also coincides with the flux of tourists from different countries.

According to the Ministry of Health, there are 2,164 active citizens with Covid-19 across the country.

Given the increase in the number of citizens affected by Covid- 19, the Ministry of Health again calls on citizens not to neglect anti-Covid vaccination, especially in this period of increasing contacts due to movements during the summer season. Anyone over the age of 12 can be vaccinated at health centers across the country. The ministry also appeals to all vaccinated citizens to go to health centers to be vaccinated with the boosting dose.
