TIRANA, June 10 – President Bajram Begaj described the Albanian League of Prizren as one of the extraordinary events in the history of the Albanian nation.
In the main manifestation for the 145th anniversary of the Albanian League of Prizren, where the highest authorities of Kosovo took part on Saturday, Begaj said that visionary patriots united to create a pan-Albanian resistance against oppression and rule.
“It was this connection that worked with all its might to affirm our nation and to oppose the fragmentation of Albanian ethnic lands. It was this covenant that projected the creation of an Albanian state – free and independent. Today, as 145 years have passed since the establishment of the League of Prizren, we honor with pride the glorious activity of those who dreamed and worked for our Albanian nation,” said Begaj.
But, the President pointed out, feelings of pride are not enough because, according to him, Albanians have the responsibility to respect and protect the heritage that these historical figures have left as a legacy. “The development and empowerment of the Albanian people in all its territories and our integration into the big Euro-Atlantic family are a mission for which we must all work together. And in order to fulfill this obligation, we are lucky that our ancestors, in addition to language and culture, also have left us old friendships and reliable strategic partners on whom we can and should always rely,” he said.
Begaj pointed out that not everything has been easy, but the future of the Albanian nation will be more and more prosperous if Albanians fight divisions and splits among themselves, among each other. /argumentum.al
