TIRANA, August 12 – The new president of Albania, Bajram Begaj, will start his tour of foreign visits by traveling to Kosovo on Monday, an announcement of his press office said on Friday. As it is already the tradition of Albanian heads of state and government, Bajram Begaj also chose Pristina as the first capital for an official visit 3 weeks after taking office.
The news was also released by the Assembly of Kosovo, which announced that Kosovo Speaker Glauk Konjufca will host the President of the Republic of Albania, Bajram Begaj on August 15.
Begaj will meet with the heads of state, government and politics in Pristina.
Begaj took office on July 24 through the oath in the Assembly and the ceremony in the Presidency as a pick up of the Socialist Party which has the majority in Parliament. He succeeds Ilir Meta who ended his 5-year mandate although Socialists tried unsuccessfully to dismiss him twice. Meta is now head of the Freedom Party which is an opposition political force in Albania.
