TIRANA, September 20 – A court session was held on Tuesday at the Court of Appeal in Durrës for the request made by the Russian and Ukrainian citizens for the change in the measure of restraint after the incident that happened in Gramsh, southern Albania, in a former weapons factory.
The decision of the Court of Elbasan, which ordered the arrest of Mikhail Zorin, Fedir Alpatov and Zvetlana Timofeeva on August 24, was upheld. After the session, the lawyer of the Ukrainian citizen, Saimir Vishaj, said that the three foreigners should have been released since there is no evidence of criminality, while, according to him, the Prosecution of Elbasan itself will close the case.
“It was a very big debate between the defense and the judge about a decision where there is no criminal fact. All three should be free today, none of the countries in the world have dealt with students who are bloggers,” said lawyer Vishaj, who announced that he would appeal to the Supreme Court, the only right he was given after a 2 hour and a half- marathon session.
“The prosecutor’s office has changed its position, considering them innocent as long as there is no final decision, no one can say it is a case of espionage. I think that it will be the prosecutor’s office of Elbasan that will close this case sooner or later. There is no evidence of criminal facts,” said lawyer Vishaj.
