TIRANA – The unchecked spread of the coronavirus is hitting hard Albania where the infected persons are growing massively in number causing also an increase of fatalities which climbed to 55 on Sunday.
In the daily update the health ministry revealed that the number of affected people was 72 in the last 24 hours which takes to 1,000 persons those confirmed as ‘active people with COVID-19’ being a dangerous source of contamination in this Balkan country. The total number of coronavirus cases has mounted to 2,402 since the outbreak of the pandemic on March 9.

The Health Ministry calls on citizens to respect social distancing rules, and when this is not possible to use masks.
The June unchecked spread of the disease excluded Albania from the EU list of the countries with which borders of the Union will open on July 1 as the country is registering a high number of coronavirus cases. Among other nations excluded by the EU are the United States, Russia, Turkey and Saudi Arabia, according to a report by Le Monde on Sunday.
It was declared that Europe will reopen its borders to citizens from Australia, Canada, South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Rwanda, Thailand, Uruguay, three North African states, Georgia, Montenegro and Serbia.
In the meantime Le Monde’s report stressed that some EU member countries have requested a delay in the decision for further examination, meaning the decision may be revised. According to the information, the list is not entirely binding and border management remains a matter of national decision./argumentum.al
