TIRANA, November 29 – Tributes to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Liberation of Albania after the Second World War were held at the Martyrs’ Cemetery in Tirana on Tuesday.
President Bajram Begaj, the speaker of the Assembly, Lindita Nikolla, the mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, family members of the martyrs, citizens, etc. honored the memory of the martyrs of the Motherland by placing wreaths near the “Mother Albania” monument in the Martyrs’ Cemetery on the occasion of Liberation Day,
President Begaj honored all the heroes of Albania, who gave their lives to protect the country from the nazi-fascist invaders and expressed the greatest gratitude towards their memory.
High state officials honored the sacrifice of the martyrs who gave their lives for the Liberation of Albania under the sound of the national anthem.
During the Second World War, the Albanians aligned themselves with the anti-fascist coalition and waged a war of liberation. Albania was liberated from the Nazi-fascist occupation on November 29, 2022, but the political class continues to be divided as the right-wing forces do not recognize November 29 as liberation day. /Argumentum.al
