TIRANA, September 18 – “Italy makes a contribution to the fight against organized crime on both sides of the Adriatic. The Italian anti-mafia has made extraordinary contributions to the battle against the Albanian mafia.”
This was declared by the chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha in an online conversation with Albanians in Italy on Sunday.
According to him, if it wasn’t for the Italian anti-mafia, (former interior minister) Saimir Tahiri would have been above the deputy prime minister at least. “We are grateful to them because they wage a war against criminal organizations that harm the interests of Italian and Albanian citizens.”
Further Berisha recalled that after forming his government in 2005 he visited Italy and there he met those whom he called his friends, Silvio Berluconi and other leaders of the center right. “What made the most positive impression on me were the very warm and true words that Berlusconi, Fini and Casini spoke about the Albanian immigrants. They told us, they had no problem with the Albanians here (Italy), but only positive developments. This marked a great achievement of Albanians in Italy,” said Berisha.
In the meantime DP head Berisha said Prime Minister Edi Rama is the only advocate of the pro-Russian policy of Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Europe.
Rama defends the Belgrade-Moscow axis and asks Europe not to put pressure on Vucic for the sanctions against Russia, considering that Serbia has become Russia’s powerful tool since the war in Ukraine started.
Speaking of elections in Albania Berisha said that Rama has violated the free vote of all Albanians with all the mechanisms openly in front of all Albanians and the whole world.
In addition he said that Rama had taken hostage former chairman Lulzim Basha after he had opened the file on the financing – Russian financing -as he himself said in March 2018.
“Rama used the investigation to take the leader of the opposition hostage. This is the truth,” said Berisha regarding the latest revelations that Basha received 500,000 dollars from Russia in 2017 when he was head of the Democratic Party. /Argumentum.al
