TIRANA, August 7 – The chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha declared on Sunday that his party will support the protest announced to be held on Monday at 19:30, in front of the Ministry of the Interior in Tirana. Further details of the protest are not provided.
In an announcement from the Democratic Party, it is announced that Berisha will support the citizens’ protest for Jonada. “Tomorrow the citizens will protest. Full support for their protest,” said Berisha.
The protest for Jonada, the 7-year-old girl who was hit by the dinghy driven by police Commissar, Arjan Tase, took place for about two hours in Tirana on August 4.
The protesters put a 72-hour deadline to Prime Minister Edi Rama to dismiss the Minister of the Interior, Bledi Çuçi, the Minister of Tourism, Mirela Kumbaro and the Director General of the State Police, Gledis Nano.
The citizens’ protest was joined by politicians such as the chairman of the DP, Sali Berisha and the chairman of the Freedom Party, Ilir Meta, as well as deputies such as Lefter Geshtenja, Flamur Hoxha, Luciano Boci and Luan Baçi.
In social networks, civil society has reconfirmed its determination to protest that their demand for the resignation of the aforementioned ministers be implemented, but the ultimatum announced on August 4 was not kept by the Prime Minister, Edi Rama.
In the meantime the sail of speedboats have been blocked in some beaches but the situation is chaotic as in some others there are people who do abide by the order of the police. As owners of the speedboats reject police orders, citizens continue to condemn government carelessness due to which many accidents have happened this summer.
