TIRANA – As the coronavirus pandemic is spreading unchecked with the cases of the last 3 weeks equal to those in the first 3 months of the disease, President Ilir Meta has urgently required a serious, responsible and transparent reflection in Albania.
“A concrete long-term strategy is needed, not sporadic and mediatic, to cope and bring under control the spread of this pandemic that is seriously endangering the health and lives of citizens,” said Meta on Monday.
According to him, it is necessary to have more intensive communication with the countries of the region and those of the EU, as well as with the WHO, to harmonize actions and exchange information in real time to orient a strategy that allows a safer and faster exit from pandemic.
Due to the latest spread of the virus the EU has recently changed its mind excluding Albania from the list of the countries allowed to travel to Union’s members effective on July 1.
The President called for the need of strict observance of all health protocols and preventive measures by all.
“It is vital to increase the efficiency of these measures, through awareness, transparency, inclusiveness and increasing the spirit of cooperation, as the only major common objective should be to protect the health of citizens and the national economy.”
Meta noted that it is particularly necessary to increase the reliability of pandemic management, now that Albania is entering the peak of the tourist season for getting the most out of it./argumentum.al
