TIRANA, April 6 – Prime Minister Edi Rama has described the Congress of the ruling Socialist Party (SP) to be held on April 9 as an important event for its government having in essence the union and not the division.
Rama, who is also SP head, asked the deputies to be active in this meeting according to the areas they cover to fulfill the commitments.
“At the end of the Congress, all the organizers of the panels will make a summary of the work on the sharp topics for the public and will determine the milestones on which the Chairmanship and the Parliamentary Group will work to realize the commitments,” he said in his speech at the meeting of the SP Assembly on Wednesday.
Further he said that the time at which the SP Congress convenes is an extraordinary one that has also affected Albania because of the Russian aggression against Ukraine.
“The Congress will be a union in a time of an unusual confrontation. The essence is union, not division. The union to agree not to leave the lane of further development,” said Rama, who noted that the Socialists will win if they continue to be their own opposition.
Among other things, he added that he supports the request of the General Secretary of the Socialist Party, Damian Gjiknuri for the expansion of the secretariat.
“At the request of the Secretary General, I consider it necessary for the Congress to consider expanding the secretariat with two other secretaries. The discussions will also be related to the point of view of the further work of the secretariat and the statute of the SP. This is the view of the Congress not to go into other details,” Rama said. /Argumentum.al
