TIRANA, December 3 – The State Police do not aim at stopping or dispersing any protest, but the security of the 32 high delegations which will come to Tirana makes police put national and international security over the geographical desire of a group of protesters, said General Director of the State Police Muhamet Rrumbullaku on Saturday.
The top police officer was speaking about the protest planned by the Democratic Party (DP) and other opposition forces in ‘Deshmoret e Kombit’ Boulevard to be organized on December 6 when the EU-WB Summit will be held in Tirana.
All measures have been taken to guarantee public order during the summit, he said in a press conference.
According to Rrumbullaku, in order to guarantee order and security, the police have drawn up a detailed plan of measures, cooperating with law enforcement agencies within the country, with security experts from EU countries, as well as with the international organizations INTERPOL and EUROPOL for the timely exchange of information.
Further he said the police do not absolutely stop the protest announced by the opposition, but guarantees its progress outside the security perimeter as it is inviolable and accessible only by participants in the Summit and accredited journalists.
“Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard, where the protest is planned, is among the streets that will be blocked.
“The security perimeter will begin activation from 14:00 on the 5th with the perimeter limitation determined by the police. This perimeter will be maintained until the end of the summit and the departure of all dignitaries from our country,” said the top police.
So far the opposition has informed that it will not withdraw from its request to hold the protest at the “Dëshmorët e Kombit” boulevard. /Argumentum.al
