TIRANA, August 24 – The US Ambassador to Tirana, Yuri Kim, said in a post on social networks on Wednesday that efforts to damage justice reform should no longer be accepted. According to her, for a very long time, the rich or the powerful have believed that they are invulnerable.
The Ambassador underlined that now they are worried that their impunity may come to an end.

“Threats and inducements for prosecutors and judges – and other efforts to derail justice reform in Albania should not be accepted as “normal” anymore. This behavior does not belong in a country that is in NATO, has opened negotiations for EU membership, and sits on the UN Security Council. For too long, the rich and/or powerful have believed they are untouchable. Now they are disturbed their impunity may be coming to an end. As justice reform is implemented and produces more and more results, it will become clearer and clearer that no one – NO ONE – is above the law.”
