TIRANA – Five new cases with coronavirus have been found in Albania taking to 64 the total number of declared affected persons in the country, according to the daily update made public by Albana Fico, director of the Institute of Public Health (ISHP) on Thursday.
The information revealed that out of the 5 new cases three are Italian citizens while the two others are from the town of Kavaja, central Albania. Ms. Fico said that during the last 24 hours 32 persons were tested and the total number of the tested suspected cases amounts to 697 until now.
According to her, 32 patients stay hospitalized in the infectious hospital and 3 of them are on intensive therapy, but there are no patients are on respiratory-directed therapy until now.
“We are continuing to test suspected cases as an important element for cutting the transmission chain of Covid -19 virus,” said the ISHP head in her routine daily update.
Coronavirus has claimed the lives of two persons in Albania, a 73-year-old woman from Durres and a 66-year-old man from Lushnja, who both had travelled to Italy, the most hit European country by Covid-19. /argumentum.al
