TIRANA – The travel restrictions for the vast majority of people intending to travel to the European Union will be extended to fight the coronavirus spread, according to a senior official of the European Commission.
Margaritis Schinas, the European Commission vice-president in charge of “promoting our European way of life”, told MEPs on Thursday as quoted by EUoserver on Friday that the month-long travel restriction for almost anyone hoping to enter the European Union will be extended.
“You are all familiar with the measures we took to restrict travel into the European Union for a month. I think the situation compels us to renew these restrictions,” he said.
The plan for denying a 30- day entry was first announced on 16 March this year by European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen which marked a new turning point in the global fight against Covid-19./argumentum.al
