TIRANA – The new 24 cases of the affected persons with coronavirus, which were confirmed on Thursday, have taken to 518 the total number of people infected by the Covid-19 virus in Albania.
“The number of people affected by coronavirus in Albania has reached 518,” said the health ministry in its daily update which specified that 269 people suspected of the virus among whom 53 health staff were tested. “The test results confirmed 24 positive cases with Covid- 19 of which 6 are health personnel.”
It is worrisome the situation in the northern city of Shkodra where 12 new cases were found out while 3 new cases were confirmed in the Capital Tirana which is home of about one million people.
Details show that so far 4827 suspected cases have been tested and of these 512 cases have been confirmed positive with Covid- 19.
Ministry’s statement notified that on Thursday morning, a 64-year-old patient from Tirana who had been intubated for more than 2 weeks passed away. Hospitalized in “Shefqet Ndroqi” hospital, the patient’s health condition deteriorated rapidly. The deceased persons had some concomitant diseases.
The latest fatality rises to 26 the total number of life losses in the battle with the deadly disease despite the efforts of medical staff, according to the statement by the health ministry.
There are currently receiving medical treatment 43 patients at two Covid hospitals in Tirana, while 26 more patients were added to the list of recovered patients over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of the cured persons to 277./argumentum.al
