Chinese Embassy, WHO Office in Albania Pledge Assistance to Albania’s Anti Covid Combat

TIRANA – “After the outbreak of the epidemic in Albania, we have always stood by its people and have resolutely supported ccountry’s fight against the epidemic,” has said the Chinese Ambassador to Albania Zhou Ding during a recent meeting with the representative of the World Health Organization in Albania, Dr. Bettina Menne.
The two interlocutors exchanged views on the new coronavirus epidemic and international co-operation to curb its spread worldwide as a report by Radio Eja has said.
Ambassador Zhou told Dr. Menne that at the request of the Albanian government China has made great efforts to provide two contingents of anti-epidemic materials, which include test boxes, protective clothing, KN95 masks, etc. to Albania.
In the framework of “Cooperation 17 + 1”, the Chinese side also organized a video conference of specialists for the prevention and control of the epidemic and a video conference of health ministers, sharing China’s experiences in the fight against the epidemic with the Albanian side.
In addition Mr. Zhou noted that the WHO has made a significant contribution to the work against the epidemic in Albania.
The Chinese Embassy in Albania wants to have close exchanges with the WHO Office in Albania, to make efforts and provide joint assistance for the anti-epidemic war in Albania, said Mr. Zhou.
Dr. Bettina Menne, for her part, said that China was the first to bring the epidemic under control in a short period of time, positively developing international anti-epidemic cooperation and receiving high praise. Some current international criticism of the WHO is unscientific and inconsistent with reality, she was quoted by Radio Eja as saying.
The WHO Representative Office in Albania has always maintained close exchanges with relevant Albanian institutions and has assisted the Albanian side in preventing epidemics, treating patients and preparing professional specialists, providing auxiliary materials and reports on the analysis of the epidemic situation.
