TIRANA – A bad day for the healthcare staff in Albania as nine health employees, including patients of the University Medical Center ‘Mother Teresa’ (QSUT), have been infected by the Covid- 19 virus.
This was made public by the medical expert, Flutura Beqo in the daily bulletin released on Wednesday.
“An in-depth epidemiological investigation has discovered that among the new cases there are 13 affected at University Medical Center ‘Mother Teresa’ – 9 healthcare personnel and 4 patients, contacts of a nurse who tested positive two days ago, that got infected outside the hospital,” said Beqo.
She noted that out of them 9 are asymptomatic and self-isolated, while 4 patients have been transferred to the infectious diseases hospital in Tirana.
According to the specialist, 262 suspected citizens were tested and all 21 positive cases were in the capital, Tirana during the last 24 hours. So far, the number of confirmed coronavirus cases has amounted to 1050, the data shows.
In the meantime it is reported that in the last 24 hours 9 citizens have recovered, bringing the number of cured patients to over 800 in Albania.
“So far, more than 15,000 molecular and serological tests have been performed, while the number of confirmed positive cases throughout the country is 1050. There are currently 205 active persons with COVID-19, mainly in Tirana, Durres and Kruja,” said expert Flutura Beqo./argumentum.al
