TIRANA – President Ilir Meta has denounced the pressures exerted by the majority regarding the appointment of the head of the High State Audit (KLSH) saying in a letter sent to Speaker Gramoz Ruci that he had been faced with the fact that the proposals for three consecutive candidacies for KLSH had been rejected.
“All three of these candidacies met the legal criteria and enjoyed extensive professional experience. A media campaign was launched to approve a draft law on the appointment of the Deputy Chairman of KLSH. This campaign is aimed at exerting political pressure on the President,” said Meta in the letter which is made public on Thursday.
In addition he noted that this action of Parliament shows a lack of will to cooperate with the President. “It is the same approach of Parliament as during the process of appointing the members of the Constitutional Court.”
President appreciated Dr. Arben Shehu, the candidacy proposed by him saying he is a very suitable candidate, with experience, professionalism and dignity. He has a law degree and is one of the best connoisseurs of criminal law.
In conclusion Meta called on the acting head of KLSH, Bujar Leskaj not to leave the office until the election of the new chairman. /argumentum.al
