TIRANA – “It is a special pleasure and appreciation to meet twice within a few days with the Prime Minister of Kosovo, especially in moments when Kosovo is experiencing important developments,” said
the chairman of the oppositoon Democratic Party (DP), Lulzim Basha, who is paying an two-day official visit to Pristina on Monday where he met with Kosovo’s political leaders.
He spoke at the meeting with PM Abdullah Hoti of the importance of dialogue with Serbia and the perspective of Kosovo’s European integration.
“The aggravated situation caused by COVID-19 is an emergency for both countries. It is important that the situation is brought under control as soon as possible, and the Prime Minister of Kosovo informed me about the latest measures for the decentralization of testing for COVID-19,” said Basha, who, as he said,
congratulated Hoti for the economic assistance that the Government of Kosovo has provided to its citizens, being a leading country in the region for the support offered to citizens and business.
In the meantime Basha expressed appreciation to Prime Minister Hoti for his contribution and decision-making regarding the dialogue process with Serbia. Kosovo leadership has shown foresight, strength and cohesion thanks to this decision, according to him.
“This dialogue should result in mutual recognition of Kosovo. DP and I will offer all our support, and we are ready to contribute where the Kosovo leadership thinks that it is necessary,” the DP number one said.
“As we have cooperated for the declaration of independence and international recognition, we are ready to cooperate today in opposition and tomorrow in the government of the country to guarantee the achievement of the objectives of the citizens of Kosovo, starting with visa liberalization,” he said.

Further on Basha said cooperation between Albania and Kosovo can not remain only in words and letters. “It must be concretized with deeds. And one of my first decisions as Prime Minister of Albania will be the abolition of the National Road tax and put the road in the non- stop service of citizens and economy of both countries,” he said.
During his visit to Kosovo, the DP leader Basha held a meeting with the President of the country, Hashim Thaçi.
Basha wrote on Facebook that he discussed with Thaçi the steps that are being taken towards the dialogue between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia, which have mutual recognition as
the final goal and objective.
Close coordination between the US and the EU has been and remains a precondition for the success of any initiative in relation to the final stabilization and European and Euro-Atlantic perspective of the region, said Basha.
“Regarding the indictment against President Thaçi, I expressed my conviction that no one can stain the KLA war. It is a just war for which the sons and daughters of Kosovo have sacrificed their lives in centuries.”
In conclusion the DP head noted that justice must do its job, but unlike the aggressor none of the KLA commanders or soldiers avoided it, but faced it with honor and dignity.
“I praised on this occasion the approach of President Thaçi, who answered the questions of prosecutors during four days in a row and I believe that he will come out successfu in this battle,” Basha said. /argumentum.al
