The US Ambassador to Tirana, Yuri Kim, was in the office of Prime Minister Edi Rama on Tuesday to discuss many issues, including the June 5 agreement.
“Ambassador Yuri Kim met with the Prime Minister for 2 hours to discuss a wide range of issues, including the clear and well-known expectations of the United States regarding the June 5 agreement of the Political Council,” said US embassy officials.
Earlier, there were opposing remarks between the two main political forces in the country. PM Rama posted a video trying to justify why open lists are needed, while the Democratic Party published documents to show that Rama, with open lists, is officially aiming to remove the pre-election coalitions something which is rejected by the DP.
The bone of contention of this debate is the June 5 agreement as, on the one hand, the opposition Democrats demand that it be approved as soon as possible without changes by Parliament while on the other the Socialist majority insists on constitutional changes which have to do with allowing open lists and removing pre- electoral coalitions, a move which basically touches the political agreement reached on June 5. //argumentum.al
