TIRANA -The Balkans will be the most affected region by the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic as forecasts predict and the region needs compensation , Prime Minister Edi Rama has said in his speech at the Western Balkans Summit of the Atlantic Council.
According to reports, the main issue of the agenda of the Summit held on Wednesday was the pandemic situation, and as Rama said all countries should cooperate faster.
He said that a practical regional economic plan should be implemented and monitored by all Balkan leaders but also by international partners.
“Each of us have been hit in different ways. Some with fragments, some with variations. We for example, and some like us have been affected by the drop of the number of visitors in tourism which has hit the economy. Under these conditions we can be compensated by larger and faster cooperation,” he said.
In this frame Albanian PM said if AC and other partners like EU “join us it would be very helpful”.
“We need to move faster, and not heed to the politicization of this process. It has never helped people. We have to go through this situation,” Rama said, adding that people expect results regardless of religion, origin, color, etc. /argumentum.al
