The border crossing point with Greece of Kapshtica in the south of Albania will continue to be closed until April 19, 2021.
This notification was given by the Local Border and Migration Directorate of Korça, southeastern Albania, on Tuesday. “The Greek Police authorities have notified the Albanian side of the extension of the deadline for blocking the Kapshtica Border Crossing Point until 19.04.2021 in the frame of the measures taken by the Greek government to cope with the situation created due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” said the relevant Albanian authorities. According to this decision of the Greek side, leaving Albania and entering Greece through this crossing point will continue to be closed until that date.
“While leaving Greece and entering Albania will be allowed from 06:00 to 22:00, for all citizens and categories of vehicles,” said the Local Directorate of Border and Migration in Korca.
Albania has kept its borders open during most of the time with all neighboring countries which in turn have not hesitated to apply their rules of the quarantine. In many cases health specialists have drawn the attention that this open-door policy followed by the Albanian government is wrongly influencing much on the spread of the pandemic despite the measures taken in the country.
In the meantime, the vaccination process continues in Albania and as health minister Ogerta Manistirliu said on Tuesday more than 200,000 anti-Covid vaccinations have been carried out until today since the launch of the vaccination campaign in the country.
Prime Minister Edi Rama published on Tuesday a video of vaccinations in several cities, such as Berat, Vlora, Gjirokastra, Tirana, Lezha, Lushnja, Përmet, Rrogozhina, Puka, etc.
“The honor is all ours. We have managed to carry out more than 200,000 vaccinations and we will not stop with great persistence until we win the confrontation with the invisible enemy,” said Rama.
Official data reveal that since the launch of the vaccination process 206,000 vaccinations have been carried out. /argumentum.al
