TIRANA, March 27. Democrats must stage mass protests to face this regime face to face against the background of the skyrocketing prices. This was declared by former Prime Minister Sali Berisha in a meeting with his supporters in Permet on Sunday. Berisha was also in Tepelena on Sunday.
Berisha said that this should come after the union as a sacrifice to go towards a solution. Speaking about the crisis in the Democratic Party (DP), Berisha said that former DP head Lulzim Basha resigned, taking responsibility for this situation and the subsequent losses.
According to Berisha, in order to face Democrats, they must unite. “Sacrifices are a call for unity. We had a crisis. I do not deny it and it was a severe crisis. But this crisis is heading towards resolution. The man who created it resigned. Did you see the headquarters yesterday and today? Can a normal person on earth armor the building in that way? I do not want to deal with him because he took his responsibility,” he said.
Referring to the position of the alternate DP chairman Enkelejd Alibeaj, Berisha said that he had no other argument than America.
“I met at the DP headquarters those who are against Sali Berisha. The gentleman who created this crisis fled. We will return the free vote. I have shown it and I am showing it again. A democrat in Tepelena told me he will not vote for me, but I will accept the majority vote,” said Berisha.
Further Berisha said that he told Alibeaj that a party that is pulled by its nose by others never wins. “Enkelejd had no other argument. He told me that America is the problem. I said, oh sir in 1997 the whole world was against me. How I could let DP down. Friends are friends, but sovereignty rests entirely on the life, blood and souls of Albanians,” said Berisha who has been declared persona non grata by the US State Secretary Blinken./ Argumentum.al
