TIRANA, May 20 – Open Balkans initiative has been framed by Belgrade and PM Edi Rama has connected Albania with it to the detriment of Albanians, has said former premier Sali Berisha.
Berisha was speaking to his supporters in Vlora, a Socialist stronghold in southern Albania, in the framework of his campaign for the election of the Democratic Party (DP) head which will take place on May 22 this year.
“There are two projects, the Berlin Process and the Open Balkans. The Berlin Process is a project with which the great powers want to keep us connected to the European integration process,” said Berisha on Friday, who asked where the Open Balkans has been engineered. “It was born in Belgrade because it is not ready to follow the process of European integration and there is a president (Aleksandar Vucic), who is the mastermind of the genocide in Bosnia. He declared that for every Serb, 100 Muslims should be killed. He should recognize the genocide, before he takes the right steps towards Brussels. This gentleman (PM Edi Rama) goes and ties us behind his chariot and forms an alliance at the expense of Pristina,” Berisha said.
DP veteran leader said that such an initiative weakens the Albanian nation. “This project has the destruction of production in Albania. For example, we can not compete with an agriculture that has received in decades at least 20 times more subsidies than Albanian farmers,” said Berisha. /Argumentum.al
