TIRANA, May 21 – Of the 13 detainees who appeared before the court and heard the accusations raised by Serious Crimes Prosecution, SPAK with key witness Nuredin Dumani, there was a strong reaction from one of the detainees, Besjan Xhixha, 31 years old on Saturday.
Xhixha said that the repentant, Nuredin Dumani assured them after each murder that nothing would happen to him as he had connections with ministers, deputies, prosecutors, even mentioning the names of investigators.
“Nuredin Dumani has committed 12 murders. After each murder, he told us that nothing happens to him because he had connections with ministers, deputies, prosecutors. He told me that he had connections with prosecutor Altin Dumani. He had his own man and he felt protected,” said the defendant, Xhixha. According to him, Dumani should talk about all the crimes he has committed, if he is really repentant.
In a comment on the mega operation ‘Golden Bullet’, which hit 8 criminal groups on Thursday, former prosecutor Eugen Beci said that he expects the focus to be not only on the fight against crime, but also on corruption, adding that he expects to have repentants regarding high-level corruption of senior officials.
“It’s the beginning of an investigation and not the end of the investigation. These statements of this man during these 30 days have all been taken, and all the details will have to be proven by the procedural body,” Beci said.
The fact that not all of criminals have been caught suggests that the investigation will have to be extended much further, said Beci, who did not rule out the possibility of a deconspiration of the operation. /Argumentum.al
