TIRANA, June 4 – The National Council of the Democratic Party (DP) voted on Friday for the Secretary General, the two Vice Chairmen and other party structures, DP sources said on Saturday when the results were made public.

Thus, the number two of the Democratic Party, the General Secretary, was elected Flamur Noka supported by the votes of 157 members of the Council while the elected Vice Chairmen Luciano Boci and Oerd Bylykbashi got 157 votes and 107 votes respectively.

Some 211 members of the 270-member National Council participated in the election procedures of the new DP leadership structures.

The National Council also elected the following senior officials:

Secretary for the former persecuted Lorenc Luka, Secretary for the Diaspora and party organizations outside Albania Indrit Hoxha, Secretary for Local Government Ylli Asllani, Secretary for Human Rights Bislim Ahmetaj, Secretary for Electoral Affairs Ivi Kaso, Secretary for Judiciary Affairs Adriana Kalaja, Secretary for Partner Organizations Megi Balliu, Secretary for Transparency and Anti-Corruption Ledina Mandia, Secretary for Organization Ervin Minarolli, Secretary for Integration Edmond Spaho, Secretary for Public Relations Jola Hysaj.

The veteran leader Sali Berisha is the Chairman of the Democratic Party elected in a party referendum a few weeks ago.

The Albanian American activist, Evi Kokalari reacted after the results of the elections were made public.

Kokalari’s attention was focused on the fact that Belind Këlliçi did not take any position in the Democratic Party, which she described as the right decision. For Kokalari, fortunately the risk of creating a second Lulzim Basha (former DP chairman) was diverted. She stated that she will present facts on how Këlliçi has benefited from the trust given to him in the December 11 Assembly. /Argumentum.al
