TIRANA, August 12 – The chairman of the Democratic Party (DP), Sali Berisha has not ruled out the possibility of creating a coalition with the Freedom Party (FP) in the upcoming local elections in Albania. But Berisha said in a press conference on Friday he was sure that the DP mayoral candidates will be elected by the membership itself.
“I also know for sure that despite the fact that the issue of the logo and other symbols of this force still does not have a final decision by the courts, this force will appear in these elections with the official DP logo unlike in the previous partial elections,” he said.
Despite the fact that they are preparing for the upcoming local elections, Sali Berisha, like FP head Ilir Meta, have assured that the unstoppable wave of protests that will start in September will topple down the government of Edi Rama and they will manage to entrust the leadership of the country to a technical government.
In the meantime Berisha supports any form to make the transparency of the files of the former State Security Service even though he recalled that the DP made the lustration law and the Constitutional Court activated by Rama overturned it in 2008.
