TIRANA, July 8 – After the serious event that happened in Kruja, when his brothers and other members of the Rraja tribe barbarically violated two cousins, Jashar and Bilbil Maja in connection with a quarry, the Deputy of the ruling Socialist Party (SP), Rrahman Rraja has resigned.
In a statement to the media on Saturday, Rraja said that “I have no words to express my embarrassment to all those who have trusted me all these years. Unfortunately I failed as a parent and feel publicly shamed by my child.”
He asked apologies to his friends and colleagues of the parliamentary group and declared the handover of the mandate of the deputy and his withdrawal from political life. “I apologize to those who have voted for me since 2000 as mayor and for 2 mandates as deputy.”
In addition, the former lawmaker apologized to the victims of the violence that he called “shameful for my family”.
In conclusion he called on his son to surrender to justice.
Members of the Rraja tribe brutally violated the two cousins, Bilbil and Jashar Maja, who had complained that the explosions during the quarry work in Kruja were destroying their homes and the surrounding area. At noon on July 6, 2023, they were in a bar with the quarry engineer to request that the explosions be more controlled since their homes were being damaged, when the group of the violators stormed the bar and they were prey to barbaric violence.
The quarry is owned by Përparim Rraja, the deputy’s cousin, who has an exploitation permit and a license for this activity. The police have arrested 4 people, while 4 others have been declared wanted, among them Rexhep Rraja, the son of the deputy and the two brothers of the socialist deputy of Kruja, Flamur and Xelal Rraja for the violence against the Maja cousins. /argumentum.al
