President Ilir Meta stated that he has signed a lawsuit against officials responsible in the Assembly for falsifying documents during the procedures for his dismissal that the Presidency will submit to the Special Prosecutor’s Office, the Tirana Prosecutor’s Office and the General Prosecutor’s Office.
Meta made that announcement in a press conference on Wednesday in a show of toughness declaring publicly that he was Ilir Meta.
“The crime of counterfeiting is very flagrant. It happens for the first time in a public session of the Constitutional Court by the Albanian Parliament in a process that takes place for the first time against the President of the Republic and this crime shows very clearly not only how it worked,” said Meta. “The foundations of the Republic have been severely shaken. It’s an attempt to carry out a coup against the head of state. In order to dismiss the president, they falsify in the Constitutional Court,” he added.
His legal advisor, Bledar Devishaj said that manipulations of some written acts by the Assembly have been identified.
“There were differences in the date and content of point 20 of an order of the former speaker of the assembly to set the agenda of the plenary session. Through the changes, the Constitutional Court was oriented to reject some of the claims that raised by the president,” he said.
Asked if he will recognize the decision of the Constitutional Court in case he is fired, Meta said that there will be no lock in the Presidency and no door will be armored, while there is a message for “them”. “You say if July 24 is today, I would like it to be yesterday. There will be no extra lock in the Presidency, nothing will be armored; on July 24 we will have a party and the people of March 2 will be there.”
Meta pledged to be in unison with the Constitution, with public and national interest, with political pluralism.
“Let those who have thought in a mafia way, all those local and international renaissance people, rosy and blue, forget that they will bury the de facto political pluralism in Albania and will subdue the people of Albania. They will get despaired endlessly. I give you my word for this. I am Ilir Meta, I tell them o super-fools,” said Meta. / Argumentum.al
