TIRANA – The coronavirus contamination of the population continues to affect massively people in Albania where four fatalities and 50 new cases were confirmed on Friday.
“Be careful and do not give up vigilance,” was the urge of Eugena Tomini, an expert at the Institute of Public Health (ISHP) on Friday revealing that the number of hospitalized people increased to 64 in Tirana with 7 in intensive therapy and 1 intubated. In addition she said that 682 people are considered active coronavirus cases mainly in Tirana, Shkodra and Kruja.
According to her, the number of tests stands at 330 and the total number of the infected people with COVID-19 is 1,838 since the outbreak of the pandemic on March 9 this year.
The highest number of infected people was registered in Tirana with 17 cases followed by Kruja (6) and Lezha (5). It is noted that the virus has spread in all parts of Albania including the southernmost town of Saranda where 1 case was discovered.
The latest wave of the pandemic is intensive in high numbers of the infected people who, according to local authorities and specialists, are most responsible for what is happening because of not obeying to the preventive measures.
“We must all take maximum care because the virus has not left and is taking advantage of citizens’ negligence,” said Prime Minister Edi Rama in a message posted on his FB account on Friday./argumentum.al
