TIRANA, October 1 – The head of the National Council of the Democratic Party (DP), Edi Paloka, has said that they will immediately start contacts with allies to determine the candidates for the local power elections scheduled to be held in spring next year. After the meeting of the DP National Council on Saturday, Paloka said that the decisions were made on the votes for the candidates in the primaries, and he emphasized that not only the members of the DP but also the sympathizers will vote.
“It was also discussed the candidacy of the heads of branches and the position they will hold. There were several proposals, but the proposal of the working group was approved according to which the functions of the heads of the branches that will run in the primaries during the candidacy will be carried out by the vice heads of the branches. If the official DP candidates for the local elections will be announced, they will no longer be in the initial position. There was also a vote on a questionable point, whether there will be a runoff, and it was decided that the runoff would remain as a process,” he said. Paloka emphasized that, after the approval of the primary regulation, the talks with the allies will continue and that the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha himself will be the main negotiator.
“The details of how to act in case it is decided to leave a free election zone to the allies will be determined during the talks. Today we closed the regulation and everything will be determined in the following days. I believe that the DP chairman himself Berisha will be the main negotiator,” said Paloka. /Argumentum.al
