TIRANA, June 19 – The Government of Albania and that of Kosovo will hold in Pristina on Monday the consecutive joint meeting where several cooperation agreements are expected to be signed.
According to a press release issued by the press office of the Kosovo Government on Sunday, the working session of the meeting starts on Monday morning at 11.15 where the two prime ministers Rama and Kurti will make speeches and the cabinet members of both governments will present the agreements that will be signed after the speeches.
Meanwhile, the Kosovo Police announced that it will take care of providing security and maintaining public order and tranquility, during the meeting and the movement of the Prime Minister and ministers of the Albanian Government.
“To enable the circulation and reorientation of traffic on alternative routes in locations where escorts are expected to pass, police officers of relevant units will be engaged, so the Kosovo Police require full understanding by citizens,” the statement said.
Royal Haskoning DHV Director Eric SMIT will give details on the national port and railway infrastructure in function of the common national market and four economic freedoms: the project of the new Commercial Port in Porto Romano, the integration with the Durres – Pristina railway, and the Dry Port in Kosovo . On this occasion the intergovernmental agreement will be signed.
At the end of the meeting there will be a joint press conference of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Prime Minister of Albania Edi Rama, which has raised the interest of the media because of a tense atmosphere between Rama and Kurti as the latter insists to reject the Open Balkans, an initiative launched by Rama and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic.
Over the last days there has been strong criticism of the initiative by foreign associations and media outlets seeing in it attempts by Russia to strengthen its presence in the Western Balkans, having Serbia as a stronghold. They have said that the WB initiative has nothing in common with the Berlin Process which has been promoted by the German Chancellor as the launcher of that project is Germany when Angela Merkel was at the helm of the government. /Argumentum.al
