The increase of prices in Albania is aggravating every day more and more the living conditions of the citizens of this Balkan country. Finally, oil increased by 40 lek per liter in retail market within a few hours. Prices of goods including those of the basket in retail markets have skyrocketed and there is no clear evidence by relevant government bodies regarding this ‘silent’ steep rise.In a post on social networks, a citizen complained to Prime Minister Edi Rama about the prices.
“Our problem is that prices have gone to the stratosphere, you play the same tune,” the citizen wrote to the premier on Sunday.Albanian PM and FM have made the war in Ukraine the main topic of their governance. In his answer, the head of the government, Rama answered hat it is necessary to see what is happening in the world. If some people wanted to look a little beyond themselves and open their eyes to see what is happening in the world, how a people are being massacred two hours by air flight away from Albania, how prices are rising everywhere, not only in Europe, but also in the world, but also how the government in Albania is continuing to try hard to keep the price of energy unchanged, then they would surely understand that this kind of talk is an insult to the real victims (Ukrainians) of this gloomy time, Prime Minister Rama responded.
Albania is the poorest country in the Western Balkans and Europe with the lowest GDP per capita. The last wave of price increases have burdened the living conditions of the majority of the population, especially of its vulnerable segments. /Argumentum.al
