Poll Puts SP in Lead But DP-SMI Coalition Get Majority in April 25 Elections in Albania

The ruling Socialist Party (SP) is the only winning party with about 2% of votes more than the opposition Democratic Party (DP)
in the general elections of April 25 this year, reveals the Albanian-Israeli company “GeoCartography”.
However a poll conducted by it on the expected elections in Albania, which was made public by local media on Tuesday, indicated that Albania’s opposition coalition, the DP and the SMI, will jointly win 71-74 seats in the 140- member Parliament, thus securing a majority.
The SP of the current Prime Minister, Edi Rama, turns out to win 44.54 percent, which when translated into mandates, falls to 65-67 seats. The second winner turns out to be the Alliance for Change led by Lulzim Basha, which according to the poll, receives 61-63 seats, or 42.18 percent of the votes.
Meanwhile, the poll predicts that Monika Kryemadhi’s SMI will get 10 or 11 seats, which in percentage drops to 9.31 percent.
Some 3,778 people distributed in nine constituencies were interviewed in the frame of this survey.
According to the poll, the DP comes out first in the districts of Shkodra, Lezha, Kukes and Dibra. Basha’s party, according to the poll, will lead in Durrës and Korça in these elections.
The SP is expected to lead in Tirana, Elbasan, Fier, Berat, Vlora and Gjirokastra.
