The President, Ilir Meta has reacted regarding the nationwide protests of three days against the price increase. Meta called on the Government in a post on social networks on Friday to demonstrate due sensitivity and responsibility in addressing all issues that are rightly concerning citizens.
The head of state drew the attention of the police to distance themselves from violence.
“I call on the Government to show due sensitivity and responsibility in addressing all issues that are rightly concerning citizens, who have been protesting for their dignity and essential rights across the country during the last days. I draw the attention of the State Police to distance themselves from unacceptable violence and unjustified detentions,” declared Meta.
In the meantime it is reported that another protest has been announced against the price increase on Saturday at 11 in the morning.
Evodence shows that the Prime Minister is taking measures in face of the expected protest.
According to images made public by social networks, it can be seen that the doors of the Prime Minister’s office are being armored with metal sheets.
It is said that this shows that the government apparently expects a larger protest than those held during the last three days.
Representatives of civil society have announced that a larger participation of people is expected in Saturday’s protest in front of the government building
as citizens from other regions will join.
