TIRANA, June 8 – Prime Minister Edi Rama during the meeting with the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Dritan Abazovic discussed the project of the new bridge Velipoja-Ulcinj. Rama said that in August the detailed project will be completed and workings start together after that step.
“With the energetic Albanian and good friend Dritan Abazovic, the Prime Minister of Montenegro, in the presentation of the project of the new bridge Velipoja – Ulcinj over the river Buna, a bridge that will be a beautiful and significant symbol of our vision to get closer and closer in the spirit of cooperation, integration and regional development,” Rama said in his comment on a photo showing Abazovic and him during the meeting on Wednesday.
One of the representatives of the project said that it is a bridge that is expected to be completed in 18 months and will shorten 73 times the distance between Velipoja and Ulcinj.
“The bridge will be 380 m long with 3 arches. It is of category C1 to be used for cars, pedestrians and bicycles and will have 2 lanes,” said one of the representatives of the project during the meeting of Rama and Abazovic. According to him, the bridge has a height that allows passage under it in case the Buna River will be open for vessels. “Within 2 months the project will be ready and then the budgeting and procurement process will require 6 months, until June 2023, the project’s representative said, adding that it can be completed within 18 months and will cost 9 million euros. /Argumentum.al
