Serb Diplomacy Concerned over Deliberations of Joint Meeting of Governments of Tirana and Pristina

Serbia’s Foreign Ministry has summoned the Ambassador of Albania to Belgrade, Ilir Boçka, handing him a note of protest regarding the statements made during the joint meeting between the Governments of Kosovo and Albania.
The meeting took place in Tirana on October 2, where, among other things, the border between the two countries was promised to be removed.
“Such statements, which imply the unification of Albania and the Serbian province of Kosovo and the creation of a Greater Albania, are a cause for concern, both for the Republic of Serbia and for other countries in the region committed to maintaining stability and intensifying cooperation in the region,” it is said in the statement of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday.
In the meantime the note highlighted the daily efforts made by top Serb officials in order to develop bilateral political relations and all other relations with neighboring countries.
For this reason, it is further stated, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia has expressed the expectations that even the highest officials of the Republic of Albania would refrain from statements that disrupt relations between the two countries and that could “destabilize the region.”
In addition it is said that Albania had lodged a note of protest with the Serbian embassy in Tirana, but, as Belgrade diplomacy said, that note of protest had not been accepted by the charge d’affaires in Albania because of “the unacceptable views expressed in it”. //argumentum.al
