TIRANA – The balance sheet from COVID – 19 is getting worse in Albania, where the death toll has gone up to 157 since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the daily medical bulletin released by Ms. Mirela Cami, Director of the Health Care Services Operator on Friday.
In updating the data she said that 3 patients admitted to two COVID hospitals in Tirana lost their lives. It is about a 56- year old and a 76- year old both from Tirana with some companioning diseases and a 90- year old from Elbasan.
“Currently, 115 patients are being treated at the Infectious Diseases Hospital and the “Shefqet Ndroqi” Hospital, and 16 are in intensive care 5 of which are intubated patients,” Cami said.
Some 500 tests on C19 suspects were performed in the last 24 hours and the results showed that 79 persons were confirmed positive. The geographical distribution of cases is as follows: 56 cases in Tirana, 6 cases in Shkodra and Kruja, 3 cases in Fier and Lushnja, and Elbasan, Kavaja, Vlora, Kamza, and Divjaka registered 1 case each of them.
Meanwhile, 69 citizens have been declared cured, bringing the total number of recovered patients to 2,952 since the beginning of the epidemic.
“Testing has continued for the suspects affected by COVID-19 and the intensive work of epidemiologists in the field for active case tracking continues. The Ministry of Health and Social Protection reminds CITIZENS to WEAR masks everywhere indoors and in any public environment where distance cannot be kept,” said Cami.
COVID-19 statistics are as following on 31 July 2020: total tests 41,199, positive cases 5,276, cured cases 2,952, active cases 2,167 and fatalities 157./argumentum.al
