TIRANA – Six fatalities and 136 infected people have been registered as victims of COVID-19 throughout Albania in the last 24 hours, said Marjeta Dervishi, specialist at the Institute of Public Health (IPSH) on Sunday.
Some 561 tests were performed on suspects affected by COVID- 19, while 74 citizens were cured, bringing the total number of cured people to 3,342, since the beginning of the epidemic.
Family doctors across the country are monitoring over 1 thousand active people with Covid19 daily, who are staying at their houses, said Dervishi.
Currently in the Infectious Diseases Hospital and “Shefqet Ndroqi” Hospital there are 112 patients and 18 are in intensive therapy and 3 of whom are intubated.
“Unfortunately, even after the great efforts of the medical teams, the 53-year-old artist, Arben Bajo from Tirana has passed away. Also, a 61-year-old from Tirana, a 62-year-old from Durres, a 76-year-old from Tirana, a 77-year-old from Pogradec, an 87-year-old from Shkodra could not win the battle with the disease at the two C19 hospitals in Tirana,” said ISHP specialist.
“Given the fact that there have been increased cases related to gatherings at festive or funeral ceremonies, we remind citizens that all such events are prohibited as they are a source of infection, endangering the health of you and your relatives,” she said appealing once again for more care for the observance of the rules of hygiene, the obligatory wearing of the masks indoors and the observance of the physical distance.
On Saturday 4 patients lost their lives from COVID-19 while 124 infected cases were identified.
As of 9 August 2020, COVID-19 statistics are as follows: Total tests 45,942, positive cases 6,411, cured cases 3,342, active cases 2,870 and fatalities 199./argumentum.al
