TIRANA – North Macedonia’s Parliament will hold the constitutive session, including the election of a new Speaker, on Thursday.
This was announced by the outgoing Speaker, Talat Xhaferi who, as MIA news agency said on Wednesday, declared that as President Stevo Pendarovski will give the government mandate to Zoran Zaev means that the SDMS leader has already secured the parliamentary majority.
“I learned from media reports that Pendarovski will give Zaev the government mandate, which means, according to the Constitution, that Zaev has secured the parliamentary majority and is prepared for the election of a Speaker, this officially completing the Parliament’s constitutive session,” Xhaferi Told TV24. He has already informed the heads of the parliamentary parties on the session preparations.
In the meantime it is reported that Zaev and Alternative leader Afrim Gashi had a private lunch meeting on Wednesday. As SDSM said, “There were no negotiations on the government formation. Such talks, in which Gashi took part, were held in Parliament or the MP’s Club.”
In another development Besa leader Bilal Kasami announced that he will not attend Thursday’s meeting initiated by DUI leader Ali Ahmeti on the occasion of the Ohrid Framework Agreement anniversary. /argumentum.al
