EU Denies Landing of Plane with Tour Operators from Belarus, Tirana’s ‘Rinas’ Airport Welcomes It

After the EU ban on the use of the airspace for the flights by Belarus, the first plane from that country landed at ‘Mother Teresa’ Airport in Tirana on Wednesday at 15:35. This decision was made to after the confirmation that the passengers on this plane were tour operators.

This decision was welcomed by the Commercial Representation of Belarus in Albania, which thanked the Albanian State and “Albcontrol” for allowing the landing of the Belarusian plane in Rinas in a press release issued on Wednesday. This is due to the fact that there were tourist groups and tourism promotion agencies on the plane.

“The official representative of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce in Albania, Mr. Aleksander Gjurbavija, evaluates this decision as an important contribution to the development of tourism in the country and the Albanian economy in particular,” it is further stated in this announcement.

It should also be noted that because of the pandemic tourism is one of the economic areas which has received the heaviest blows, so all tour operators expect that this season will be very successful, where the only option is foreign tourists.

It should be recalled that after consultations in Brussels the heads of states and governments of the EU countries decided to ban Belarusian airlines from using the airspace as well as EU airports.

These sanctions came after the bomb alert and the forced landing of a Ryanair plane in Belarus that led to the arrest of a Belarusian opposition journalist. The EU demanded the immediate release of journalist Raman Pratasevich. /argumentum.al
