Socialist Party(SP) will hold its regular Congress on January 29, 2022 almost a year after its victory in the general elections of April 25 last year and amidst a total confusion in the opposition ranks giving it the golden opportunity to rule Albania alone undisturbed.
The decision to hold the Congress was taken by the Chairmanship of the Socialist Party, which met on Tuesday under the leadership of Prime Minister Edi Rama.
It was reported that the preliminary draft with proposals for changes to the Statute of SP was introduced.
After discussions by members of the Chairmanship and relevant proposals, the Special Working Group on the Statute will continue the discussion in the coming days to draft the final document which will be submitted to the delegates of Congress for approval.
During the work of the Congress, a vote of confidence will be held in parallel by the National Assembly for the Executive Secretariat of the party.
The event that will take place on January 15 in the framework of the 30th anniversary of the Albanian Eurosocialist Youth Forum was also discussed in the meeting.
Prime Minister Rama made a comment on the situation in the DP after the meeting of the Socialist Party leadership saying that the head of the DP, Lulzim Basha and his predecessor Sali Berisha are both political corpses, one with headquarters and the other without headquarters.
“Problems are never solved in all families. What is small but certain is that the SP is in the function of solving the problems of the country, while the DP to solve the unsolvable problems of 2 individuals: One political corpse with headquarters and the other without one,” said Rama.
“I’m very hopeful that the DP will get out of this situation by overcoming both corpses. This is to cry and laugh,” he said.
Rama said that he did not recall to have built fortifications to defend himself from any MP who wanted to take the building by force.
“We are not here to fight for self-interest such as the two political corpses of the DP,” PM concluded. / Argumentum.al
