TIRANA, December 10 – The opening ceremony of the “School Sports Teams” project, which includes 10,000 young people part of volleyball and basketball sports teams from 61 cities in Albania, took place at the “Air Albania” stadium on Saturday.
According to the project, about 700 basketball and volleyball teams have been formed for boys and girls in pre-university education, and teams with university youth will also be created starting in January next year.
Prime Minister Edi Rama described this ceremony as the most beautiful sports event of the year
“In this great sports movement, which has just started, those champions who will raise the flag of Albania will surely appear. There will also be those who will honor, not only themselves, not only their parents, but the entire Albanian nation,” said Rama.
The Minister of Education and Sports, Evis Kushi, said that the project “Sports teams in schools” aims both to teach and entertain students at school.
The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj said that next year young people will have a lot of sports activities since Tirana has received the baton as the ‘European City of Sports’.
All the participating teams from the 61 municipalities of the country took part in the closing parade at the end of the event. /Argumentum.al
