TIRANA – The number of new cases of people infected with Covid-19 was reported to be 14 in the last day bringing to 726 the tally of the disease in Albania while although 47 days have passed since the official outbreak of the epidemic and there were 34 cases last Friday, the health authorities cannot say if that has been the peak.
“Even though 34 cases were confirmed on Friday which is the highest number of the last days, this fact does not mean that the peak of the pandemic is passed,” said the specialist of the Institute of the Public Health, Marjeta Dervishi.
It seems that the ‘weird’ fluctuations of the curve of the infected cases have confused the specialists who contradict each other on this point.
“Regardless of the figures we cannot say that it is the peak as we have to do with the spread of the virus in clusters or certain groups, and it is not a question of the spread of the virus in the community,” said Dervishi.
The number of fatalities from Covid – 19 have has climbed to 28 as a 60-year old patient passed away on Sunday at “Shefqet Ndroqi” hospital and the doctors said the victim had suffered from some accompanying diseases.
There are currently 30 patients at the infectious diseases hospital of whom 4 are in intensive care. At the COVID 2 “Shefqet Ndroqi” hospital there are 6 hospitalized patients and 2 of them are in intensive care in serious condition.
