TIRANA, October 23 – The Ministry of the Interior announced on Monday that the general director of the Police Supervision Agency (AMP), Ardi Veliu, has submitted his resignation to the Minister of the Interior.
Minister Taulant Balla thanked Veliu for the work done so far at the head of AMP, the results achieved in the framework of the self-cleaning process of the structures of the State Police, the Guard of the Republic and the Fire and Rescue Service, but he accepted the resignation of him.
The Police Supervision Agency has referred 207 cases to 295 subjects, including 253 police officers and 42 citizens to the SPAK and General Jurisdiction Prosecutors from January 1 until now.
Veliu was appointed head of AMP in September 2022, a position he held until Monday. No explanation is given about the reasons for his resignation.
The management of the Agency will be held by Dritan Dorda, deputy general director of AMP, until the end of the process of selecting the new head of the institution. /argumentum.al
