TIRANA, October 25 – The population and housing census will not be closed on October 30 as planned, but according to INSTAT, this process will be delayed by two weeks to continue until November 15, as still about 3% of the areas in all of Albania remain uncounted.
Elsa Dhuli, director of INSTAT, stated on Wednesday when asked by TV Klan that mainly the areas affected by the earthquake, where a series of new constructions were carried out, were not asked. “There are good results in Tirana, Durres, Kurbin, Kruja and any individual area,” she said.
INSTAT said that despite the high participation in this process, there are still citizens who refuse to register even though they have been contacted more than three times by pollsters. “Several cases of refusals continue and therefore we would like to contact them again,” said the director.
INSTAT said that no fines have been imposed for refusal or false declaration of information so far. “To avoid penalties in cases of rejections, contactless housing or false information, we invite you to become part of this process,” said Dhuli.
Postponing the population and housing census by two weeks according to INSTAT has no additional costs. /argumentum.al
